Chatting with Mike Haber, Visual Consultant, Linux Tech to People Tech- Mike is a freelance Visual Consultant, using images to help people communicate. He is currently developing ‘Thinking Tech’. These are visuals that help describe and communicate ideas between people. Think of it like lean communication. There is a blog post to accompany this interview here. mikehaber.substack.com/p/who-is-mike2 While he uses skills to work with people, Mike used to be a Full(ish) stack Unix and Linux nerd. From the early 2000’s he was designing, implementing, monitoring, and getting out of bed to fix large 24/7 365 software installations for a large UK Universities. Mike can still exit the ‘vi’ editor, but has found his learning style makes work with people and images much easier. Computer problems are fun, but are often surrounded by people problems that can’t be solved with the same thinking tools. It’s important to use context appropriate tools. Learning cynefin, systems thinking and coaching led to a job creating visuals of the University he worked at full time, and this was followed by more people focused work. Going from full on IT tech to People tech has been an interesting journey, and Mike has been drawing and writing about the process of learning from experts and the ways to understand people. Mike runs in person and online workshops to help people start with a blank page and ‘Draw their Ideas’. He also helps people and teams have Blame Free Conversations aided by visuals. My words about Chatting with Mike Haber-
I Feel Mike is multi skilled and very well in understanding anything, i believe with his words he can draw anything based on anything anybody says, i feel he imagines things clearly by listening to others, I believe his help and service to people is admiring and inspiring, i want his work to reach everywhere in the world and i want many people to get benefit from his skills and his work, he is different from people i chatted before, this man was into technology work before in his career and now he is doing people’s work, thats a qualification or qualities or skills to have i believe, because understading machine at some point of time and understanding people is two different jobs, which is not easy, i strongly believe this is tough and great adoption. His passion towards his present work will definelty give quality result for anybody who works with him.
