Chatting With Director Of Communications At WISPA.Org Mike Wendy From Washington, DC United States- Mike Wendy serves as the Director of Communications at WISPA, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping content and messaging to bolster the association’s event and policy operations. With a career spanning back to 1994, Mike has been deeply entrenched in the realm of tech policy, primarily focusing on issues related to telecommunications and the IT industry as they have evolved over the years.

Before joining the WISPA team, Mike led MediaFreedom, a market-oriented nonprofit organization that provided commentary on tech policy matters across various governmental spheres, including Congress, the Executive Branch, the FCC, the courts, and state and local governments. Prior to his time at MediaFreedom, he held the position of Vice President of Press and External Affairs at the Progress and Freedom Foundation, where he oversaw the foundation’s external outreach initiatives.

Preceding his role at the Progress and Freedom Foundation, Mike served as the Director of Public Affairs for the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), a comprehensive membership association advocating for the interests of IT service, software, and hardware companies. During his tenure at CompTIA, he managed media outreach related to tech policy, organized grassroots engagement among members, and also served as the treasurer of CompTIA PAC.

Before his involvement with CompTIA, Mike’s responsibilities as the Director of Grassroots for the United States Telecom Association centered on member engagement, tax issues, small business concerns, and the implementation of the 1996 Telecom Act.

In a previous chapter of his career, Mike also had experience as a network news sound and lighting technician, contributing to renowned shows such as 60 Minutes, A Current Affair, 48 Hours, Prime Time Live, Entertainment Tonight, and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, among others.

Mike Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication and Journalism from the University of Florida, as well as a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. He is a member of the Florida Bar.
